The Comfy - Sweatshirt Blanket
While browsing Amazon for something comfortable and warm, I came across this amazing product called “The Comfy“. It’s a “sweatshirt blanket” (or “blanket sweatshirt” as I’ve seen it called elsewhere). I immediately added it to my Christmas wish list and, boy, am I glad I did. Keep scrolling to read my review.
My Review
If you’ve read my “About Page“, you know I suffer from an autoimmune disease, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, and I created this blog to highlight products that make the lives of the chronically ill more comfortable. As a Hashimoto’s sufferer, I have often experienced sensitivity to temperature. When I’m hypothyroid, I experience cold intolerance. This sweatshirt blanket is perfect for just those situations.
One Size Fits All - Ok, Most
This blanket sweatshirt is huge. I’m not a huge person, but I’m not small either. The arms are much longer than my own, but they have cuffs that, once you stick your hands through, it feels as if the arms fit fine. The rest of the shirt is large enough I can curl up on the couch and tuck my legs inside. My husband is 8″ taller than I am and he can wear this sweatshirt too. The arms aren’t short on him. It fits him well. In fact, after trying mine on, he wanted one of his own.
Now, a little caveat. For most people, this sweatshirt blanket will be roomy. It was with my husband and I and we’re not exactly in the best of shape. We’re both more than a “little” overweight. If you wear a 3X to 4X, that’s where I’ve read reviews that it starts to get a little snug. Over that, it’s probably going to be a little tight or just plain not fit.
Soft and Warm
The outside of this sweatshirt blanket is plush and soft. The inside sherpa material is also soft and it’s oh so warm. It’s hard to really describe the comfort. You know that feeling when you wake up in the morning, all cozy warm in bed? That’s this sweatshirt. The first time I put it on, I almost fell asleep on the couch. The second time I wore it, I did fall asleep on the couch.
There have been times when I have been shivering cold where no matter how many blankets I put on (including electric blankets), I just can’t get warm. It usually takes drinking a hot beverage to warm myself up. I started to shiver like that the other day, threw on my blanket sweatshirt, and I warmed up fairly quickly. It felt so luxurious. And it was “all over” warmth, as this is also a hoodie blanket. Yep, it has a hood. I can see where this sweatshirt will become indispensable in my fight against cold intolerance.
The Comfy has an oversized front pocket. It’s perfect for keeping your hands warm when you don’t need to be using them for working the remote control or typing on your laptop.
Versatile
The Comfy is great for lounging on the couch or around the house. I think I’ve established that pretty well. Because it’s also a hoodie blanket, it’s also great for outdoor activities like camping, barbecuing, and attending sporting events or concerts. I’m not sure if this sweatshirt is waterproof. My guess is no. That said, the sweatshirt is thick so it would take quite a downpour to completely soak through it.
Care and Cleaning
Cleaning is easy. Just throw it in the washing machine on cold and tumble dry separately on low. Simple.
